Fairfax County prosecutor in dispute over plea agreement
This Washington Post article describes a disturbing dispute over a plea agreement between the victim of a terrible and brutal sexual attack and the prosecuting attorney. The victim, and the Fairfax City police, said that she was not informed that the prosecuting attorney had agreed to reduce the rape, sodomy, abduction with intent to defile and malicious wounding charges to "simple abduction charge. . . and two misdemeanor sexual battery charges, none of which would require [the defendant] to register as a sex offender."The article includes this paragraph: "[The defendant] was arrested in January 2006 outside the Best Western Motel on Chain Bridge Road in Fairfax City. The victim, a former girlfriend, lay at his feet, bloodied and in shock." The defendant was sentenced to 16 months.
