Governor ups court-appointed pay

File this under "it's about time." Governor Kaine one-upped the General Assembly by proposing legislation so that judges may waive caps for court-appointed attorneys on all cases. For far too long, court-appointed counsel received unconscionably low pay for the hard work of representing criminal defendants. Quite frankly, I never thought it would happen because increasing pay for attorneys never seemed to be a politically popular move. Sometimes, the right things happen.
