Hampton Judges refused to appoint J&DR judge

The saga of the judicial vacancy in the Hampton J&DR court continues. According to this article, Hampton's three circuit court judges declined to appoint an interim judge writing that "we believe that the entire court system will be best served by Judge Nelson T. Durden's experience remaining in place for now." Judge Durden has stayed on the bench after retirement, serving as judge designate. This line best sums up Delegate Gear's reaction: "The judges' inaction disappointed Gear, whose own inaction put the decision in the judges' hands to begin with."
