Big Turnout in Republican Primary in James City County

In the York County Republican primary for Melanie Rapp's vacated seat, Brenda Pogge beat Sheila Noll by only 23 votes, 847-824. Noll intends to contest the findings because, as she alleged, disqualified voters were permitted to cast a vote in the primaries. Another contest in that primary was to establish a Republican candidate for the Williamsburg /James City Commonwealth's Attorney position vacated when Mike McGinty was named as judge for the General District Court in York-Poquoson. We did not read any news reports on the outcome of that race, but sources have indicated that Nate Green prevailed by about a 200 vote margin. It is generally believed that the winner of that primary race will run unopposed in the general election. Apparently the turnout was extraordinary with long lines throughout the day.
