Virginia Beach restaurant sued by father of teen killed by drunk driver
A family's loss was only a footnote in the uproar of the immigration debate when two teenagers were killed in a Virginia Beach car accident caused by a drunken illegal immigrant, Alfredo Ramos. Now the father of one of those teens has sued the restaurant where Ramos drank that night, alleging that Ramos came to the restaurant intoxicated and yet the restaurant continued to serve him alcohol.
Note that this case is quite unlike the recently publicized case of Josh Hancock's father who sued the restaurant that served alcohol to the younger Mr. Hancock. In the Hancock case, the allegations are that the restaurant was negligent for serving alcohol to Mr. Hancock who then drove intoxicated and had an automobile accident in which he was killed. As Ben Glass pointed out, that lawsuit probably wouldn't fly in Virginia. The Virginia Beach case alleges that the restaurant was negligent for serving alcohol to Mr. Ramos who then drove intoxicated and had an automobile accident in which he killed two innocent teenagers.
